Hi everyone,
My name is Max, and I joined the Applied Analysis group in CASA as a docent on August 1st. I’m originally from the central United States, and since 2015 I’ve pursued my academic journey through a PhD in Seattle, Washington, followed by postdoctoral positions in Leipzig, Germany, and Jyväskylä, Finland.
My research background lies in Geometric Measure Theory (GMT), where we study the analysis of irregular objects—think objects with lots of corners and holes—and explore the interplay between their analytic and geometric properties. GMT is a versatile field, and my work has touched on topics such as anisotropic minimal surfaces, free boundary problems, and regularity theory for PDEs.
Outside of mathematics, I enjoy spending time in nature—though living in Eindhoven means continuing my streak of missing mountains since leaving Seattle! As a traditionally trained pure mathematician, I’m excited to broaden my horizons and explore connections to industry during my time at CASA.
Looking forward to meeting and working with you all!
