Hi everyone! I’m Jop Hendrikx. I studied Applied Physics (BSc and MSc) at TU/e, where I specialized in computational plasma modeling and learned to enjoy the combination of physics, mathematics, and numerics needed to turn complex phenomena into reliable simulations.
On 1 December 2025, I started in my new role in illumination optics, bringing that numerical mindset into a different domain. In my research, I continue the work of Vì Kronberg to explore the physics and modeling of surface scattering in illumination systems — linking mathematical descriptions of rough surfaces and scattering behavior to efficient simulation tools.
Outside of research, I like slowing down with a good coffee and a book. I also spend a lot of time coaching a competitive race rowing team, where I enjoy translating long-term planning, technique, and resilience into performance on a race day.
